From street artist to a Whitney Museum retrospective, the short life of Jean-Michel Basquiat makes for a colorful tale of a drop-out, musician, and clothing designer to the world stage of art. Jade Powers, the Hugh Kaul Curator of Contemporary Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art, speaks on his artistic endeavors and lasting impact on the world.

Located in Hoover, Alabama, at 200 Municipal Drive, the Hoover Public Library has been operating since 1983. The Hoover Public Library seeks to reinvent the way communities view libraries.
